City of Burbank / BFD Emergency Services

Image
Eighty-six mile an hour winds 1/7/25 & the homeless were left on the street 😡 Other cities: How things need to be handled: Weather extremities & natural disasters On the train, & I am thoroughly disgusted how the homeless were left outside in 86 mph winds when simply, Olive Rec could've been opened up. Trees falling, ripped off signs, flattened cans blowing through the air while "all" alerts, from Burbank Fire & Media gave directives for housed persons only. Shame on you! Why isn't there an emergency plan for the homeless? Why? Get your humanitarian or lack of act together Burbank. Cold & heartless.

Incisors & Canines

Image
The presence of shovel-shaped incisors, among many dental characteristics, is used in forensic dentistry to identify an individual's ancestry, since this trait occurs predominantly in Asian and Native American populations. Shovel shape of upper incisors is a common characteristic in Asian and Native American populations but is rare or absent in African and European populations. Carnivores, the meat eaters of the animal world, have very defined canine teeth for tearing at meat, combined with a sometimes limited number of molars. Omnivores, because they eat both meat and plants, have a combination of sharp front teeth and molars for grinding.

Lung Pain From Inhalation of Fine Particulate Matter (PM)

Lung pain from fine particulate matter, also known as PM2.5, can occur due to the small particles being able to reach deep into the lungs, causing inflammation and irritation, leading to symptoms like chest tightness, coughing, shortness of breath, and discomfort in the chest area, particularly when exposed to high levels of air pollution; individuals with pre-existing lung conditions like asthma are especially susceptible to this pain.  Key points about lung pain from fine particulate matter: Mechanism: When fine particles are inhaled, they can trigger an inflammatory response in the lung tissue, leading to irritation and pain.  Symptoms: Besides chest pain, other symptoms include coughing, wheezing, throat irritation, eye irritation, and difficulty breathing, depending on the level of exposure.  Vulnerable groups: People with asthma, COPD, children, older adults, and pregnant women are considered particularly at risk for experiencing significant lung discomfort from fin...

If Your Lungs Hurt From Fire Smoke Exposure

If your lungs hurt from fire smoke, the most important thing to do is get away from the smoke source and breathe fresh air; then, to soothe irritation, you can try drinking plenty of fluids, using a saline nasal spray, practicing deep breathing exercises, and resting; if symptoms persist or worsen, especially with difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately.  Here are a few steps you can take : Move to a clean air area: Leave the smoky environment and go somewhere with fresh air.  Hydrate: Drink lots of water to help flush out irritants.  Saline spray: Use a saline nasal spray to moisturize nasal passages.  Deep breathing exercises: Practice slow, deep breaths to help clear airways.  Rest: Get adequate sleep and avoid strenuous activity.  When to see a doctor: Severe symptoms: If you experience significant coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing.  Persistent symptoms: If your symptoms don't improve...

Being Homeless & Wild Fires

.... because the City of Burbank & those that write emergency alerts & directives [i.e. E.B.] for residents seemed to have forgotten their homeless population. The City of Burbank has no Public Health vision. You can deny that homelessness doesn't exist, but if there are fires, earthquakes, etc the homeless need to know what to do. Police & Fire & residents be aware of those on the street; are they okay, water to drink, are they having respiratory distress? Don't be afraid to inquire. Within 18 hours my lungs started hurting & my coughing became more frequent. And you know City of Burbank, "You could do much better " ~~~ So, here you are: When experiencing fire smoke, homeless individuals should prioritize seeking shelter indoors with closed windows and doors, ideally in a designated public space like a shelter or community center, to minimize exposure to the smoke; if unable to find shelter, they should wear a mask (like an N95) if available and t...
