I took a class with LAUSD on Learning Styles. It was great. The facilitator started the class late then walked around observing everyone. Ha, he gave me a piece of paper and said don't read it until the end of class. Mine said, Visual / Tactile ... yes, he was right. Waiting for him, I fidgeted in my chair and doodled on paper [how he guessed] he was correct with everyone, as well.
So, here is the deal. I gave this to all the students I ever had .. tutoring, subbing, and teaching the Pharmacy Tech course .. and my own kids and Mike. I was so helpful and explained a lot. I am visual / tactile so things I see and touch are meaningful [it's how I study and I like to cook, clean, sew, quilt, compound prescriptions ... good stuff. I am not really into hearing things, so if I have to listen to a teacher talk who is standing at the podium, I need to doodle or play with play-doh; somehow it helps me remember.
Mike was Auditory / Tactile, so his shit could be all over the place, the way things looked never registered as it did with me. He would come home and the kids would be playing or fighting, the TV would be on, music for me in the kitchen .... so many sounds that you could see him go into overload. We tried to be mindful and respectful of our styles and it helped in tutoring and teaching the kids things.
If a teacher writes on the board and I take notes, come test day I will remember everything on the board even the outfit the teacher wore. If they just talked or I had to read then I would rewrite or type my notes or flashcards; worked out great for me.
Try it, test your partner and your kids, see if it doesn't offer a deeper understanding of them.

Visual Learner
If you are a visual learner, you learn by reading or seeing pictures. You understand and remember things by sight. You can picture what you are learning in your head, and you learn best by using methods that are primarily visual. ... As a visual learner, you are usually neat and clean.🐇
Auditory Learner
What is auditory learning? Auditory learning means that a student learns most effectively by listening. They would prefer listening to a lecture over reading a textbook, or hearing the instructions for a project instead of figuring it out hands-on.
Tactile Learner
If you are a tactile learner, you learn by touching and doing. You understand and remember things through physical movement. You are a "hands-on" learner who prefers to touch, move, build, or draw what you learn, and you tend to learn better when some type of physical activity is involved
