An Argument For Street Vending

Image
If you've never had fruit with chili and limon, then you have not lived ... truly not lived. Is there anywhere in Burbank to get this? Nope! Not only do we not have street vendors, we really have no restaurants de Mexicano with authentic. I'm talking authentic tamales, taco de lengua, tripas, menudo, etc Where?? EastLos or downtown LA. I think it's bullshit that we have a strong Hispanic / Latin community, yet our restaurants do not reflect Burbank's cultural diversity; so to speak. Arrrrgggghhhh .... Sharkey's in Toluca Lake ... OMG, although the post is about street vendors, Sharkey's has the best, the very best chips & salsa bar & guac!! The tacos, not lengua, are still very authentic as the chips. Make the trip to Toluca Lake for their food!! Orale! And the staff are simply the best!! Station 51, fire guys from Universal, are here 3-4x a week. Trust them ♥ Can you imagine having food trucks or pop up vendors at the train station? OMG Jesus! The Amtra...

If You Need To Pee, Do it Where There are Sprinklers and Plants and Bushes

Go where there is soil and foliage and where there are sprinklers. The breakdown of urine is good for soil and plants ... a natural fertilizer. [Camping and homelessness]. Singapore & SARS

Image
I'm always talking about Singapore & SARS, so here is a bit of information: Communication pathways During the SARS outbreak, using various methods of distribution, made it easier to facilitate messages regarding prevention and protection measures. For example, the CDC’s (Centers for Disease Prevention and Control) website for detailed information regarding SARS, received more than 2.6 million visits. Those visiting the website took advantage of travel alerts and other pertinent reports. I believe having this site as a central hub for information was positive and a key component in reaching large audiences of people (Arguin, 2004). Other methods of communication were the media, i.e. radio, TV, social media, print, and health related documents, such as pamphlets, hospital flyers, and other educational materials. It is of the utmost importance that all materials are in different languages and that terminology is universal, so that nothing is lost in the translation. Health and Ris...

Donating To The Homeless -- 101

Image
The following is just a bit of information & perfect for the holidays. A lot of the information refers to myself, but I'll give a heads up on this. The rest is general information to keep in mind. One thing to remember is that  I have an extensive background in pharmacy, medicine, and am educated in Public Health. This means I look at things differently than a lot of people. It's just the way it is. Do not wake up a homeless person; we have enough problems getting a good night's rest [why do you think so many nod off during the day?] A lot of homeless have weapons; so, do not wake up anyone who is homeless I'm going to leave this here, at least think about it. When you give or donate, it feels good, I know. But altruistically, your charity should not be centered around that, rather your mitzvah [good deed] should be silent. That said, consider the person your giving to. Is it about them? Or is it about 'you' feeling good? I keep about the same eating habit...
